Although the Texas Longhorn has formidable looking features that draw the attention of anyone that sees them, the animals themselves are very intelligent and have a gentle ‘pet like’ nature. It’s not uncommon to see steers, cows and even bulls broke to ride like horses and even small children can hand feed many of the pasture raised animals. At Silverado Ranch we make disposition a priority in our cattle. When you come to Silverado to visit, expect to be able to hand feed many of our bunch and pet a few on the nose. Be careful though, while they are very friendly they could turn to swat a fly and bump you with a horn…… never on purpose.
